Havana, Mar 3rd. - The unloading of a ship with 24,000 tons of wheat on the dock near the business unit of Cereales Turcios Lima, in Havana, will allow the production of flour to restart the bread of the regulated family basket, said Zaily Pérez Hernández, commercial director of the Cuban Mill Company.
According to a report by Cuban Television, the three mills in the capital began processing wheat this Sunday, which will stabilize the production of the flour.
Pérez Hernández added that this load guarantees coverage until the end of March approximately, which will continue with another ship that is in the process of confirmation, and that would give continuity until mid-April.
He said that, in the previous days, they had only had the production of the Cienfuegos mill.
This wheat processor delivers about 250 tons a day; however, the country's consumption for the regulated family basket and for social consumption requires 700 tons.
The discharge and restart of operations in the mills will immediately allow the re-establishment of the wheat flour load in all provinces, Pérez Hernández specified.
He said that, at the moment, it is not possible to reach the cereal with the mill of Santiago de Cuba, so the three wheat processing factories of the capital will assume the supply of flour to the West and East of the country, including the province of Camaguey.
