Camagüey, Mar 10th. - New photovoltaic systems planned to install in a first stage of the current year already offer a greater guarantee of water supply in three communities in the province, where the hydraulic sector continues to change its energy matrix.
Since 2023 the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (INRH) began this process, based on a cooperation agreement with the People's Republic of China, which seeks to reduce, in progressively, the dependence of the thermal generation in the important service.
The site of the solar panels was in charge of the AZUR MSME, Camagüey, second of its kind in the country, which offers several services related precisely to the maintenance, repair and commissioning of pumping and measurement equipment, in addition to disobstruction, repair and substitutions of hydrosanitary and drainage facilities.
Within its object there is in the same way the assembly, repair and maintenance of technical water, sanitation and drainage networks.
Among the beneficiary communities, the 10 de Octubre, located in the northern municipality of Sierra de Cubitas, in which more than 3,500 people reside, who receive a more stable service, because the pumping system with the support of solar energy optimizes water supply and reduces the load of the old one.
The vital resource, which is pumped from a source, located eight kilometers to a raised 30-meter tank, is now delivered directly to the cistern and it rises to the tank with the aforementioned panels, and there is a constant pressure in buildings of up to five floors, according to the Facebook profile of the Mipyme AZUR-SOLUTIONS.
Both storage structures (tank and cistern), have capacity for 380,000 liters, thus guaranteeing sufficient water reserves.
The company of new type and the Base Business Unit in that municipality executed the project of the Micro Brazil Aqueduct, belonging to Esmeralda, which after the rushed tasks has more modern distribution networks, beneficial in the reduction of operating costs and carbon emissions.
The work is distinguished by its social and economic impact, since in the aforementioned area more than 1,500 inhabitants live together, as well as supplies state, educational and assistance centers, through efficient and reliable benefits.
Previously, in greeting to the day of the hydraulic worker, in August 2024, Azur S.U.R.L., the change of energy matrix in the pumping station of the Patricio Lumumba community, in Sibanicú, culminated, which marked the takeoff of the Agramontino economic actor, together with the social projection.
In previous statements, Betsy Rodríguez Cardoso, Investment Director of the INRH delegation in Camagüey, said that for the current year there are plans to acquire more teams with the purpose of continuing to expand the presence of solar panels at the pumping stations of the territory, and pass a group of them to that renewable source.
The change of energy matrix in progress responds to the implementation of the National Plan for Sustainable Development of the INRH, and at the same time intends to improve the quality of life of the population and the sustainability of water resources in the Antillean nation.
