Havana, Mar 10.- The activities for Cuban Press Day continue today on the Caribbean island with the Tribute Act by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples.
The celebrations began on March 5 with a pilgrimage to the Colón cemetery and the laying of a floral offering at the tomb of Juan Gualberto Gómez, on the 92nd anniversary of his death, and the winners of the 2024 National Historical Journalism Contest were awarded.
A meeting with young journalists was dedicated to Juan Manuel Márquez. Also, on International Women's Day, women in the sector were honored.
This Sunday, a softball game between journalists took place on the grounds of the National Special Brigade (BEN) in the Cuban capital, where the champions of the National Media and a selection of stars from the national championship faced each other.
The schedule of celebrations includes tomorrow the presentation of books by sports glories Mijain López and Omara Durand, followed by the awarding of the winners of the 2024 José González Barros National Sports Journalism Contest.
Every March 14, Press Day is celebrated on the Caribbean island, to commemorate the founding of the Patria Newspaper by the National Hero of Cuba, José Martí, in 1892. (PL) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
