Havana, March 11. - The Supreme People's Tribunal (TSP, for its acronym in Spanish) assured that it concluded the process of early release of 553 sanctioned persons, announced last January by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba.
All those sanctioned who benefited from the early release announced on January 14 are now free, the vice president of the TSP, Marisela Sosa, said in statements to Cuban television.
According to several notifications, including that of Radio Havana Cuba, Sosa specified that "in January 378 applications were presented to the Tribunal and in February 175."
The beneficiaries, she said, were informed of the resolutions in which the date on which they should appear before the judge of execution of their place of residence was established, for the purposes of their subsequent monitoring and control.
He also explained that the judge has the obligation in that appearance to let them know what rights, prohibitions and restrictions are imposed by compliance with the sanction and also the accessory sanctions.
Early release, she stressed, is a benefit that the sanctioned person receives before completing his sentence and under that logic the obligations that they will have to fulfill once released are defined.
According to the official, the benefit could be revoked in the event of non-compliance with the obligations of the released prisoners, who would return to the penitentiary center to complete the time pending the sanction.
If they do not return to work or study, without a justified reason, the benefit may be revoked, just as it is for those who do not appear before the judge of execution on the date indicated. (Text and photo: PL)
