Cuban President pays tribute to José Antonio Echeverría


Matanzas, Mar 13th. - The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, paid tribute today in the necropolis of the western municipality of Cárdenas to student leader José Antonio Echeverría, 68 years after his death.

The president also visited the birthplace of the leader of the University Students Federation, where he appreciated the legacy that is preserved there from Echeverría.

In this center, Díaz-Canel spoke with students of the Universities of Matanzas and Medical Sciences about the attack on the Presidential Palace and the seizure of Radio Reloj, which occurred on March 13, 1957.

The visit of the Cuban president to the municipality of Cárdenas today is a continuation of the visit of the president that began this Wednesday by several municipalities in the western province.

The day before, the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba visited the municipalities of Martí, Matanzas and Limonar, in which he noted economic and social programs.

The photovoltaic park of the municipality of Martí, the Hospital Provincial Faustino Pérez and the exchange with several communities have so far focused the visit of the president in order to know the actions of the province. (Source: Prensa Latina)
