Benefits for working women maintained in Florida

Florida, Camagüey, April 12th. —In the municipality of Florida, the rights guaranteed for working women are reflected in the many benefits provided through the Social Security System, which protect women during pregnancy and childcare.

To support these concepts, the state budget allocated more than 3.4 million pesos to the territory this year to support maternity leave benefits for workers and other benefits related to the protection of sick or disabled children.

On the subject of human rights, Article 43 of the Cuban Constitution establishes that "The Cuban State promotes the comprehensive development of women and their full social participation, ensures the exercise of their sexual and reproductive rights, and consequently creates the institutional and legal mechanisms for this purpose."

The granting of pre- and postnatal leave for employed pregnant women, and payment of wages to mothers who accompany minor children to medical appointments or care for them under medical treatment are part of the Social Security benefits for working women in the municipality of Florida and throughout the country.
