Specialized care and cultural activities promote the well-being of the elderly in Santa Cruz


Santa Cruz del Sur, Camagüey, Apr 23rd.- The Ramón Montero Sánchez Grandparents’s House provides comprehensive care to the elderly in the municipality of Santa Cruz del Sur, offering a safe and comfortable space where they can feel protected and comfortable.

In addition, it promotes social integration, allowing older adults to establish links and participate in activities that enrich their daily lives

I feel great here. I respect everyone and have good human relationships. I've been assisting at this center for over two years and I can say I have no complaints. The food is varied and of good quality, said Eida López Sarduy, Comunity Services retiree.

Aurelio Meza Gómez, who has been president of the center since 2013, commented: As an older adult, I represent the residents of this institution. Any concerns or complaints are immediately transferred to the administration. They provide us with a very favorable service, in addition to cultural, recreational and physical activities.

Miguel González Guerra, administrator of the beautiful property located on the road between G and F, explained that 37 of the 45 grandparents who are part of the staff are currently served, which has decreased due to deaths and transfers to other environments outside the town. "The commitment of the five workers of this center is to maintain efficiency and dignity in our work, focused on the well-being of the human being," he said.

The young social worker Eneilis Ramos Peña highlighted that the most common pathologies between this age group under their follow-up are high blood pressure and diabetes. They receive specialized care in Geriatrics at the necessary periodicity. In addition, I use literature to interact with them and raise their spirituality," he said.

Rigoberto Alcalá Díaz, retired from the fishing of pink shrimp, said he is more in love with life, because for him the most important thing is the Cuban Revolution. For her part, the octogenarian Marisol Leandra Moreno Rojas expressed her desire to live more than 100 years, while still smiling and dancing dancing.
