Havana, Apr 30. - Dedicated to Cuban traditions and with the People's Republic of China as the guest country of honor, the XLIII International Tourism Fair (FITCuba) 2025 begins today in this capital.
In this professional event, which will be held at the Morro-Cabaña Military Historical Park, exhibitors and representatives of the main tourist destinations, hotel chains, non-hotel groups, airlines, transporters, tour operators and travel agencies will meet, who will exchange and strengthen business relations for the development of this branch of the economy.
Juan Carlos García Granda, Cuba's Minister of Tourism, recently told the press that China is a distant market, but one with great potential for the Caribbean nation and even for countries in the region.
He noted, in this sense, that the opening of FITCuba on Wednesday night will feature a gala dedicated to the cultures of Cuba and China that will take place at the Karl Marx Theater, one of the most emblematic in the city, with which the Asian giant, its clients, airlines and tour operators will be honored.
Regarding the Fair's program, García Granda highlighted the celebrations for International Workers' Day on May 1, as well as the presentation of tourism destinations and products, and rounds of negotiations.
May 2 will be the closing of this annual event and the call for the 2026 edition will be held at the Tropicana Cabaret, which is still celebrating its 85th anniversary, said García Granda.
Also in the context of the Fair, the Ministers of Tourism of the Bolivarian Alliance for Latin America and the Caribbean - People's Trade Treaty will meet to design and implement multi-destinations, in order to satisfy the needs of travelers who come to the region rich in culture and with natural values.
On May 3, FITCuba 2025 will open its doors to the public, both in the Cabaña and in the main squares of Havana's Historic Center, to promote tourism options in Cuba beyond the sun and beach spaces.
Finally, tours will be offered to sites such as Viñales in Pinar del Río, Varadero in Matanzas, and Trinidad in the province of Sancti Spíritus.
The International Tourism Fair of Cuba has established itself as the main exchange to promote the so-called smokeless industry in the country.
It has its origins in the 1980s of the last century, a date from which plurality and quality in the offers of products and services have been promoted, which has a favorable impact on the growth of the number of vacationers in the largest of the Antilles. (Text and photo: ACN)
