Havana, July 1 – Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, today received Sergei Naryshkin, director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation.
"It is a pleasure for us to receive you in Cuba," the Cuban leader expressed during the cordial exchange, as reported by the Presidency through its official account on X.
Díaz-Canel emphasized that the visit of the senior Russian official constitutes a tangible demonstration of the strong ties that unite both governments.
During the course of the dialogue, the Cuban Head of State conveyed the affection of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz to the distinguished visitor, while also sending greetings to President Vladimir Putin, with whom he has maintained recent contacts.
The Cuban President emphasized that this meeting is taking place in a special context, marked by two significant anniversaries: the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory in the Great Patriotic War and the 65th anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Russia.
Díaz-Canel expressed his gratitude for Russia's unconditional support in the fight against the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, as well as for the efforts to achieve Cuba’s exclusion from the arbitrary list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
