Havana, May 5. – The National Electric Union (UNE, for its acronym in Spanish) announced this Monday the disconnection of the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant from the National Electric System (SEN, for its acronym in Spanish) to perform maintenance work.
The controlled shutdown will last five days and aims to execute actions that improve the generation capacity of the plant and according to the UNE, there are the material resources and technical personnel necessary to undertake these works.
The Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant, located in Matanzas, is the largest unitary block in the SEN, so its temporary shutdown has a significant impact on national generation.
However, UNE expects the plant to return to generation next weekend, while other entities will assume coverage of energy demand during this period. (Text and photo: Radio Reloj)
