Camagüey, May 12th. - In the Rincón del Lago farm, belonging to the urban farm of the municipality of Guáimaro, in the province of Camagüey, Lier Borrero Reina promotes crops of great popular demand.

To these lands, in which few saw a minimum possibility to thrive, arrived this producer Camagueyan two years ago, just on August 13, a date that inspired him to give to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz the best of the tributes that is to sow food for the people.

That task, complex in times of drought, he said, is met with a small reservoir and the rotation of four wells available for agricultural work.

Together with his wife and 14 workers he has achieved on more than two hectares of onion plantations, bell pepper, cucumber, banana and plantain, guava, mango, lettuce, chard, grapefruit, mandarin, among other productions, whose main destination is the population, and especially the grandparents' house, the community dining room, the nearest school and the fairs that take place in the community.

Among its aspirations, he says, is to declare the farm as an agroecological terrain, so it uses organic matter, the humus of worm and some fertilizers it makes with lime and ash.

A close link, he says, maintains with the authorities of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Municipal Assembly of People's Power, because, he states that although it is often not possible to help with the material resource, the moral support that receives motivates him to promote the productions with greater effort.

Lier is one of those who consider that if man serves, the earth also, so the most important thing is to give love and attention to each sowing.

However, his dreams go further, because as part of the Local Development Project in which the farm is framed, he commented that with the aim of positively impacting the community, he plans to build a minizoological, a playground, a small restaurant to produce boiler food that benefits vulnerable people, as well as a point of sale for food to reach the town without intermediaries.
