From today Luaces contributes to the National Electroenergetic System

Camagüey, 17 may. - Luaces, the first of the three photovoltaic parks that must go into operation this year in the province, will be able to synchronize from this Saturday to the National Electroenergetic System (SEN, for its acronym in Spanish), with the generation of 21.8 megawatts at peak hours of maximum exposure to the sun.

The Vertientes’ site has seven technological containers of 3.125 megawatts each, in addition to 42,588 panels of 560 megawatts each, and 1,638 tables.

Zadiel Estrada Curbelo, general director of the Electric Company in the province, in statements to the Cuban News Agency, explained that they were able to complete all the technical tests and synchronize this photovoltaic solar park with the SEN, with the test of the inverters, in both minimum and nominal capacity.

Likewise, he commented, they are working on the Civic solar photovoltaic park in the municipality of Camagüey, and on the park in the Ortigal area of ??Florida, which should also contribute 21.8 megawatts each.

Various agencies have worked on the preparation and start-up of the park, as well as on the training of staff; notably the University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz, Copextel, military construction units, Mechanical plant, the Batalla de Las Guásimas and Panamá sugar mills, Workshops Lenin, Cubiza, Seisa and the Electric Company Camagüey, among others.

For Cuba, the use of renewable energy sources is not only a question of environmental protection, but also a vital need in view of the rising cost of fossil fuels and the intensification of the blockade that prevents access to them. (Redacción Adelante Digital) (Photo: Forward Digital)
