Camaguey, Jun 11th.- A few hours after leaving for the capital, the delegates of Camagüey to the IX Congress of the National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba (Anec) had a meeting with the main authorities at the headquarters of the Government.
Walter Simón Noris, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in the territory, expressed his satisfaction with the participation of the delegates, who carry proposals and commitments that strengthen the work of the Revolution.
He indicated that the congress to be held on 12 and 13 June takes place at a difficult time and that its contribution will be key to advancing one of the outstanding tasks: the economy. He stressed that Cuba is invulnerable from a military and ideological point of view.
He also stressed the importance of strengthening the work of cadres in harmony with the economy and the quality of work in the structures of the CCP. He emphasized that the cores must address the main problems of workplaces and mobilize UJC workers, unions and grassroots committees.
Simon announced that the Governor's accountability report to be presented in the National Assembly in July will be published, so that citizens can give their opinion on its content.
For his part, Jorge Sutil Sarabia, Governor of Camaguey, described the main challenges of the region, such as banking, which has had both positive and negative impacts, care for vulnerable people, an ageing population, the need to expand milk production, food and other crops. It also highlighted opportunities in the energy sector and foreign-sharing investments.
For several days delegates visited labor units such as the genetic engineering and biotechnology center, the Tecal factory in Esmeralda, communities such as Jaronú, and hotel establishments in Cayo Cruz. They also exchanged with managers and workers by consolidating new basic sections of Anec and dialogue with Finance, Price, Economic and Planning officials.
