Havana, Jun 12th. - To its IX Congress, which will take place this Thursday and Friday at the Havana Convention Palace, the National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba (Anec) arrives with many ideas and proposals for solutions that contribute once to the collapse of the economy.
Its 350 delegates are aware of the organization's high responsibility for the challenges, complexities and obstacles facing the country, so one of the two commissions that will meet today will be dedicated to accompanying the Government programme aimed at boosting the economy and correcting distortions.
Juan Carlos Prego, first vice president of the Anec, said that the internalfunctioning of the grassroots structures and other management bodies will also occupy the attention of the participants in the meeting.
A wide consultation process, involving the 67,000 associates - economists, accountants, auditors and other professionals - made it possible to collect ideas and proposals for solutions to challenges such as establishing macroeconomic balances, increasing foreign exchange income, reducing the fiscal deficit, reforming the foreign exchange market, attracting foreign investment, boosting exports, stabilizing prices, modernizing state enterprises and strengthening the non-state sector.
In addition, issues such as territorial development, agricultural and sugar recovery, accounting control, banking, the fight against corruption and demographic challenges have been discussed.
The Economists Network, a virtual platform created by Anec itself, has been another permanent space for exchanges between academics, entrepreneurs, officials, representatives of the non-state sector and cadres of the organization itself in recent months.
The ninth Congress of Anec coincides with the 46th anniversary of the association and 97 of the birth of Commander Ernesto Che Guevara, one of its founders along with Fidel Castro and Carlos Rafael Rodríguez. (Text and photo: ACN)
