Citma modifies law to strengthen innovation and recognition of historical collaborators

Camagüey, June 16 – The Ministry of Science, Technology, and Environment (Citma, for its acronym in Spanish) is undergoing a process of amending Law 38, which regulates the incentive and payment for its workers.

Edel López Carvajal, president of the National Association of Innovators and Rationalizers (Anir, for its acronym in Spanish) in Camagüey, reported that 49 innovations were registered in the province during the January-May period, generating an economic impact of 1,217,834 pesos.

He particularly highlighted the work of the Committee of Innovators and Rationalizers (Cir) of the Ruta Invasora Rice Company, which has contributed to both economic and social aspects.

In Camagüey, the 10,572 members of 531 Cirs maintain the potential to promote equipment recovery and parts manufacturing, in a context of national economic difficulties.

Armando Rodríguez Batista, Minister of Citma, stated at a provincial meeting on the future law that the initiative also involves workers, the National Association of Innovators and Rationalizers, the Youth Technical Brigades, scientific societies, and non-governmental organizations.

He also called on socialist state enterprise, private enterprise, cooperatives, and self-employed workers to be protagonists in innovation processes. Rodríguez emphasized that "there are no minor actors in the science, technology and innovation system of Cuba".
