Cuba advocates for war refugees on their World Day

Havana, June 20 – Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero today spoke out for war refugees in the context of their World Day.

We raise our voices for the thousands of people who have been forced to leave their homes due to armed conflict, he wrote on the social network X.

He also reiterated the call for peace, in the face of Israel's genocide in Palestine and its escalating warmongering in the region.

This date has been celebrated since 2001 and today constitutes a strong call for action and empathy in a time of global uncertainty.

This year, with record numbers of people forcibly displaced and humanitarian aid under threat, the slogan will be "Solidarity with Refugees." This urges us to go beyond words and take meaningful measures to support those forced to flee, according to the United Nations website. (Text and photo: PL)
