Camagüey, June 28 – Jorge Enrique Sutil Sarabia, governor of the province, announced that for the first time, the Provincial Government of People's Power of Camagüey will report to the Cuban Parliament in July.
Furthermore, he expressed that although there are many dissatisfactions and still can be improved in actions for the well-being of the population, the commitment to continue working is maintained, despite the challenges they face due to the current difficult economic situation of the country.
He stressed that the electroenergetic conditions facing the country, considered very complex in recent months, have caused affects in the province of more than 100 megawatts (MW). Due to the lack of balance in the energy deficit, it has been impossible to organize a system of rotating blackouts, which has been a constant demand from the population.
He pointed out that in June, of the 27 days in the month, 21 had maximum power outage restrictions, leaving only enough generation for vital services such as hospitals, pumping stations, international flight control, prisons, and other priority centers.
Regarding the economic sphere, the governor referred to the sugar sector, which is a fundamental pillar of the country's economy. He noted that it is currently experiencing a difficult period, as the sugar companies of the AzCuba Business Group are not meeting their production targets in the country, which is affecting communities. Industrial disruptions, fuel and lubricant shortages, and fluctuations in human capital are some of the causes that have led to delays in the current sugar harvest.
It also addressed other issues such as actions in the agricultural sector, where production is not yet able to meet the demand of the population. Work is being done to rehabilitate livestock facilities, encourage the planting of animal feed, strengthen the productive foundations for milk production and ensure that agricultural products reach the people directly, without intermediaries.
Finally, Sutil Sarabia highlighted that through the exercise of land use and control in the Camagüey region, more than 6,400 livestock producers have been included in the contracts for 2024-2025. (Gleibis Gómez Durvas/Radio Cadena Agramonte) (Photo: Rodolfo Blanco Cué/ACN)
