Ramallah, July 8 – At least 13 Palestinians were killed today in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli attacks, while talks continue in Qatar for a new truce to alleviate the humanitarian situation in the territory.
Medical sources reported that two civilians were killed and several others were wounded in a bombing attack on the Hakr al-Jami area in the central city of Deir al-Balah.
Two more died in a similar incident near the Nasser Medical Complex in the southern city of Khan Yunis.
For its part, the Al-Shifa Hospital announced four deaths, including a baby, as a result of an Israeli air raid on a house in the Tel al-Hawa neighbourhood of Gaza City.
Meanwhile, Baptist Hospital reported two dead and several wounded in another bombing attack in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, also in Gaza.
Al Jazeera television reported that numerous citizens were injured while waiting for aid at a distribution center when they were shot by Israeli soldiers.
Injuries were also reported in a bombing attack on the Abu Helu al-Sharqiya school, which houses displaced people in the Bureij refugee camp.
Since the current wave of violence began on October 7, 2023, the army has killed more than 57,000 people and injured more than 134,000, with thousands more still missing under the rubble, according to official data.
The Israeli attacks coincide with the new round of negotiations in Doha aimed at reaching a truce, but so far without satisfactory results.
Although the Islamic Resistance Movement accepted the mediators' proposal, it demanded amendments to the text, including the Israeli withdrawal to the areas agreed upon in the previous January truce, aid distribution through the UN and NGOs, and a clear path to ending the war.
There are also differences regarding the Palestinians who will be released as part of the prisoner exchange. (Text and photo: PL)
