Israel killed more than 18,000 Palestinian students in 21 months

Ramallah, July 9 – The Israeli armed forces have killed 18,243 students and injured 31,643 in the occupied territories since the outbreak of the current cycle of violence in October 2023, a Palestinian official source reported today.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education stated in its latest report on the issue that more than 18,000 students lost their lives in the Gaza Strip and another 26,264 were injured.

Meanwhile, in the West Bank, the number rose to 140 and 927, respectively, the ministry said.

It detailed that at least 928 teachers and sector employees died in both territories due to Israeli attacks, while another 4,452 were injured and 199 were arrested.

According to the data, at least 252 public schools and universities in Gaza were bombed, as well as 91 affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East.

In the West Bank, more than 150 schools were attacked, in addition to eight universities, it said. (Text and photo: PL)
