Camagüey, July 31 – As part of the activities commemorating Oil Workers' Day this July, representatives from the Territorial Fuel Marketing Base Business Unit (CUPET) made a donation of textiles and various hygiene and cleaning products to the José Ramón Silva Nursing Home.
The donation to this healthcare institution includes various items such as clothing, sheets, towels, detergents, floor mats, buckets, brooms, and others; it is part of the action of the Camagüey collective, characterized by extensive and sustained social work.
This was highlighted by Yuraima Fernández, representative of CUPET, who in her words to the present reviewed the importance of this type of institution to meet the needs of elderly people requiring care.
Sarahí Álvarez, director of the nursing home, expressed her gratitude for the CUPET staff's gesture of solidarity and emphasized the importance of receiving this contribution during such a difficult time. "This donation will be of great help to the elderly people who are permanently at the facility."
Located on Finlay Avenue, adjacent to the train station, the nursing home has a capacity for 263 elderly people and currently houses 173 seniors.
The municipality of Camagüey is among those with the highest rate of aging in the country, hence the priority given to caring for elderly people in the area to improve their quality of life. (Text and photos: Gleibis Gómez Durvas/Radio Cadena Agramonte)
