Universities from Cuba and Spain in Adult Care Project

Camagüey, August 1st.- The University of Camagüey is strengthening its academic ties with Spain through an international project focused on care for older adults and heritage, in collaboration with the University of Seville.

A group of Spanish interns is visiting the Cuban city to work on the diagnosis of heritage properties, with the aim of adapting them as day centers for patients with Alzheimer's disease.

Local specialists gave lectures on spatial planning, heritage valuation, and architectural surveying techniques, enriching the exchange of knowledge.

The City Historian's Office received the visitors, where its director, José Rodríguez Barreras, highlighted the importance of bilateral cooperation in the preservation of heritage.

The project, led by the University of Seville, also includes the International University of Andalusia and seeks to improve the quality of life of older adults in the historic center of Camagüey.

Cuban students and professors are actively participating in field work, carrying out diagnoses and proposals for the rehabilitation of buildings with historical value.

The day culminated in a virtual meeting between the project coordinators, reinforcing the academic ties between Cuba and Spain. This initiative reflects the University of Camagüey's commitment to applied research and international cooperation for social development. (Text and Photo: Cubasí)
