Cuba sends condolences for air crash in Ghana (+ Post)


Havana, August 7.- Cuba today sent its condolences to the government and people of Ghana for the recent helicopter crash that killed eight people, including senior officials from that African country.

Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, expressed his solidarity and condolences to the government and people of Ghana on social network X for the tragic event that occurred on August 6 in the Ashanti region.

"Upon learning of the plane crash in #Ghana, which claimed the lives of the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, among other senior officials, we express our solidarity and condolences to the government and people of that sister nation".

Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, also lamented the accident, which claimed the lives of Defense Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

The vice president of the ruling National Democratic Congress party, Samuel Sarpong, a national security advisor, and the four crew members also died in the crash.

According to authorities, the helicopter departed from the Ghanaian capital for the Obuasi gold mining area in the Ashanti Region for an event on illegal mining.

The Ghanaian government has decided to launch an investigation to determine the cause of the crash and declared three days of national mourning. (Source: ACN)
