Camagüey, August 11.- In the context of the 65th anniversary of the creation of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), the Provincial People's Court held an exchange with several Camagüey leaders to expand ties regarding legal knowledge to strengthen the counseling and protection of women who suffer violence and discrimination.
Issues such as workplace harassment and domestic violence were some of the main topics of the meeting, led by Yudiet Castellanos Victoria, secretary of the FMC in the territory.
The dialogue reaffirmed the courts' responsibility to strengthen monitoring and detect cases, taking into account the history of violence to which many women are exposed daily, despite the complaints that are sometimes limited due to fear or lack of empathy.
The need for alliances with several institutions in the territory is fundamental when it comes to moving forward; The Family Code plays a fundamental role in helping society understand that the abuse and death of women goes beyond mere numbers, as current rates of femicide and domestic violence in Camagüey are high.
The Camagüey-based FMC brings together more than 27,000 women, making it necessary to expand these types of discussions to obtain all the legal information necessary to support a defense.
Beyond the meeting, the institution's work is expected to continue through initiatives such as the Institutional Court Open Doors program, to expand its presence in communities and thus enhance all aspects related to rights.
It is the duty of the courts to take action to curb each of these conflicts, in addition to identifying vulnerabilities and determining the magnitude of each incident through multidisciplinary teams. (Source: Televisión Camagüey)
