Camagüey, August 21 - Just days before the 65th anniversary of the creation of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), local women who serve as examples from various fronts of struggle were honored.
The Nicolás Guillén Batista Protocol Hall, located in the historic Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz, hosted the event, which was primarily motivated by the 95th birthday of the organization’s eternal president, Vilma Espin Guillois, and the centenary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
The meeting was led by Yelenys Hernández Montenegro, a member of the Provincial Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba; Ramona Díaz Guerra, head of the Independent Department of Local People’s Power; and Yudit Castellanos Victoria, the regional secretary general of the FMC.
On this occasion, a group of outstanding women received the Distinction 23 de Agosto, while others were awarded the 65th Anniversary Seal of the organization. Additionally, loyal members of the organization signed the Honor Book of Camagüey Woman.
Also recognized were grassroots leaders with five and ten years of uninterrupted service supporting the women of Camagüey, who are the main participants in the key programs and projects of the Revolution. (Text and photos: Zenia Donet García/Radio Cadena Agramonte)
