Camagüey, August 22 – This Thursday marked the conclusion of the digital transformation initiative in Camagüey, organized by the Union of Computer Scientists of Cuba (UIC) in the province and the Co-Lab innovation lab.
During the meetings, topics such as artificial intelligence, the potential of adopting emerging technologies, and the benefits for both citizens and the business sector were discussed.
Reynaldo Alonso Reyes, president of the UIC in Camagüey, explained that since August 13, various activities have been carried out as part of the program to kick off preparations for the centenary of Fidel Castro’s birth.
In this context, it was highlighted that significant alliances have been formed during this period among representatives of different entities in the region, social and cultural organizations, and the local academic community, all of whom actively participated in conferences and debates.
One notable aspect was the presentation of an innovative contextual artificial intelligence (AI) system aimed at the tourism and heritage sectors.
This proposal, developed by Master in Sciences Reinier Hernández Palacios, sparked an extensive debate on the ethical issues related to the use and development of technology.
Additionally, the necessary steps to transform this project into a viable product within the Co-Lab innovation ecosystem were discussed. Debates also took place with representatives from the Camagüey branch of the Union of Historians of Cuba, the provincial heritage council, and other national institutions, thus strengthening interinstitutional collaboration.
Moreover, a workshop was held, sponsored by the UIC’s innovation node, in collaboration with the branch of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba in Camagüey and Ciego de Ávila, as well as the University of Agramontina. During this activity, the results achieved and the impact of adopting emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence and its associated processes, were presented.
