Local development projects bring in revenue in Camagüey

Camagüey, August 25 - The 45 Local Development Projects (LDP) currently underway in the municipality of Camagüey have reported contributions totaling 488 million pesos so far this year, positively impacting various productive activities in the area and supporting its surplus condition by exceeding revenue targets.

These initiatives, approved by the Administration Council, fall into categories such as economic and productive, sociocultural, environmental, institutional, and research and innovation.

Additionally, through their core activities, they contribute to high-priority programs in the region, such as food production and other areas where they reduce product imports, consequently leading to lower expenses.

To enhance the action of the LDPs in line with the region’s main priorities, a joint strategy is underway involving the University of Camagüey Ignacio Agramonte Loynaz, the government, and the working groups created to promote the program.

Among the benefits of the projects approved to date is the ability to provide employment opportunities for a group of individuals, particularly benefitting the inclusion of young people who are disconnected from education and employment, as highlighted by the publication.

The government of Camagüey is currently overseeing various tasks to achieve better control over the functioning and scope of the active LDPs while assessing the approval of new projects in prioritized activities based on the socioeconomic advancement of this leading municipality.

The promotion of local development and related projects is supported by Decree No. 33 on the strategic management of local development, issued by the Council of Ministers in 2021.

Such initiatives play a decisive role in the socioeconomic transformations of the region and contribute to enhancing the capabilities of participating groups and stakeholders.

They also serve as a platform for managing coordination, linkages, and alliances among local economic actors, aiming to promote transformative actions that fundamentally benefit the population of the municipality where they are established. (Text and photo: ACN)
