Nuevitas, Camagüey, August 27 - The authorities of this municipality in Camagüey are engaging directly with agricultural producers to explore alternatives that enhance food sovereignty.
The strategy includes surveying lands undergoing soil management to encourage the planting of various crops such as bananas, cassava, and sweet potatoes.
As part of this initiative, more than a dozen producers have expressed their willingness to join this effort, which some have been pursuing for months but are still in the development stage before reaping the benefits.
With over 300 hectares of land in transition and approximately 40 percent ready with furrows primarily for cassava cultivation, drought remains the biggest challenge facing the sector in the municipality.
