Camagüey, August 28 - In the province of Camagüey, preparations are being finalized to ensure that students who attend double classes receive their school meals across various educational institutions.

Pedro González Mendoza, Director of General Services at the National Business Group of Domestic Commerce, noted that the more than 20 production centers operating in the territory are getting ready to support one of the most important programs of the Cuban Revolution.

He explained that the reconciliation process to identify the students and teachers who will benefit from this food program is ongoing, while also ensuring a thorough inspection of the vehicles responsible for transporting the school meals.

In this regard, Miguel Soca Martínez, Director of the Provincial Directorate of Commerce, stated that during the summer period, a priority has been placed on the technical review of the vehicles, medical check-ups for the drivers, and monitoring the hygiene and quality of the food to be distributed, among other parameters, to enable efficient operations and supply approximately two to three municipalities each day.

For his part, Ramón Hernández García, a founding driver of the program, explained that amid the complex circumstances facing the country, the personnel tasked with this responsibility remain constantly ready to ensure the proper technical condition of the vehicles they operate so that the school meals reach students and teachers promptly and with the required quality.

Launched in the early 2000s, this program requires a collective effort from organizations such as the Dairy, Meat, and Food companies, as well as others from the commerce sector in the province. (Text and photos: ACN)
