La Colmenita brings Vietnam's optimism and hope to Cuba

Vietnam, August 29 - From now on, everything we do in La Colmenita will aim to imitate this joy, this optimism, this hope, said Carlos Cremata, the director of the Cuban children’s theater company, in Hanoi.

Clearly moved at the end of a touching meeting between his “colmeneros” and students from the Vietnam-Cuba primary school, Cremata told Prensa Latina that “these children represent love embodied in human form, and that is what humanity truly deserves.”

As the founder of the acclaimed Cuban artistic group in February 1990, he stated that, like the rest of the team, he was profoundly impressed by this visit to Vietnam.

For any Cuban, it is a great privilege to come to this land in a year when we commemorate the 65th anniversary of exemplary relations on both sides.

“It’s hard to say who loves whom more: whether the Cubans love the Vietnamese more, or vice versa. But living it here in Vietnam, among its past heroes and those of the future—these children who have won our hearts—is a wonderful experience,” he expressed.

From now on, everything we do in La Colmenita will strive to emulate this joy, this optimism, this hope, he emphasized, adding that today’s meeting at the Vietnam-Cuba school is an example of sincere relationships, love, and peace.

He recounted that during these days in Hanoi, they received countless expressions of affection and felt the immense love that the Vietnamese people have for the Cuban nation.

“Many people in the streets showed us their arms, where they received the Cuban Soberana vaccine with great love. We have just injected ourselves with energy and love for all that remains of Colmenita, which will be approximately the same duration as the friendship between Cuba and Vietnam: at least 65 million years,” he predicted.

Meanwhile, in statements to a local television station that gathered his impressions about the recently concluded event, Cremata asserted: “This is the dream of Fidel Castro, José Martí, and Ho Chi Minh: that our future, our childhood, embraces tightly, shares a great smile, and loves each other forever.”

“We are deeply in love with all of you,” he confessed.

La Colmenita, named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2007, performed last Tuesday at the modern Ho Guom Theater in the context of the Year of Vietnam-Cuba Friendship and the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, as well as to commemorate the 80 years of Vietnam’s independence.

“Cinderella… according to the Beatles,” a renewed version of the classic fairy tale accompanied by the timeless songs of the legendary British band, was the presentation of the “colmeneros” this time, leaving an unforgettable impression on the hearts of the Vietnamese audience.

The young actors took the audience back to a lively, innocent, and joyful childhood, as the theater noted in a Facebook post, which considered unforgettable the moment when a Cuban child exclaimed “Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh,” and the audience responded by singing “As if Uncle Ho were here on the Day of Great Victory.” (Text and Photo: Cubasí)
