Havana, September 5. - The Tranzac Club Center in Toronto, Canada, will host the Cuba sings and blossoms cultural festival on October 10 and 11, a solidarity event against the US blockade of the Antillean nation.
The event, which began in Santiago, Chile, in 2021, will feature Cuban singer-songwriter Raúl Torres, singer-songwriter and journalist Fidel Díaz, and lutenist Erdwin Vichot, according to the event's official website https://www.cubacantayflorece.com.
It will also feature local Canadian talent and Anishinaabe (indigenous) writers.
On October 11, discussion panels and workshops with free public admission are scheduled from noon until 5:00 p.m. local time, while concerts will begin at 9:00 p.m.
Backed by the Cuban Ministry of Culture and the production company MondoConcha, the initiative is supported by the Canadian Network on Cuba (CNC) and the collective Andthenyoudie.
The CNC highlighted that the festival will facilitate an immersive cultural exchange between Cuba and Canada, showcasing Cuban traditions and the impact of art on social development.
According to the organizers, Cuba sings and blossoms is a space where culture becomes a "shield and sword" to defend the Cuban nation, using art as a tool to denounce the unilateral coercive measures of the United States government. (Text and photo: PL)
