Camagüey, September 6.- More than 141,000 workers from various labor sectors in the province, both state and private, will participate starting September 8 in the consultation process for the Draft Law of the Labor Code. This process will extend until November 30.
Yamisleydis López Fernández, general secretary of the Central Workers' Union of Cuba (CTC, for its acronym in Spanish) in the territory, explained that for the first time new actors in the economy will also participate in the discussions. She also reported that 2,821 meetings are planned throughout the province.
López Fernández noted that the pilot assembly will take place at the Base Business Unit (UEB) of Azutecnia. In that meeting, union leaders from the main labor collectives in the province and all municipalities will be present, which will allow to gain experience in the methodology to be followed during the process.
The leader emphasized the commitment and preparation required for the consultation of the Draft Law, during which participants will have the opportunity to express opinions, debate, and exchange views on several labor-related topics.
Intensive preparations were carried out throughout August in anticipation of the consultation process. Command posts were established at both the municipal and provincial levels, composed of specialists who form the working group.
