Committees for the Defense of the Revolution keeping vigilant

Camagüey, September 6 - In Camagüey, the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) will celebrate their 65th anniversary on September 28 with various actions aimed at strengthening neighborhood unity.

Erik Degotos Barrio, coordinator of the CDR in the province, highlighted that the proposals for celebrating this anniversary also serve as a prelude to the commemoration of the centenary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

Degotos Barrio pointed out that during this period, activities are being developed to strengthen revolutionary vigilance, which is a foundational mission for the defense of socialism and the achievements made as a country.

Another focus is on the 12 “Looking to the Sea” detachments in six municipalities of the Camagüey's region, with increased efforts to combat drug consumption through neighborhood debates.

Recognition of outstanding CDR members, grassroots leaders, and neighborhood award ceremonies are among the activities being consolidated.

To involve communities, there are planned cleanup and beautification campaigns supporting hygiene efforts in response to the rise of fever cases caused by vector proliferation.

Other initiatives include raw material collection, sports festivals, blood donations, the traditional “caldosa”(typical Cuban dish), and more.

Due to its overall results in organizational functioning, the municipality of Sierra de Cubitas will host the central activities for this important date, while a broad program dedicates itself to the anniversary across all territories of the province.
