Minas, Camagüey, September 19. - The General Directorate of Education in Mines held an enriching exchange regarding the draft of the Labor Code.
The discussion was characterized by a spirit of consensus and collaboration among the participants, who addressed various topics related to current working conditions and the needs of the sector.
In addition to executives and workers, Merlys García Rodríguez, senior specialist of the Labor Body, and Gelsy Miranda González, representative of the Cuban Workers' Union (CTC, for its acronym in Spanish), participated in the meeting.
Among the main topics, the intention to maintain the current retirement age and reduce the requirements for completing social work was reaffirmed.
The importance of teleworking or remote work was also addressed, as well as the provisions regarding unpaid leave, which could be paid in cases of highly vulnerable families. The minimum age for employment was also ratified at 18 years of age.
During the discussion, the need for institutions to develop their own internal regulations, tailored to their specific needs, was highlighted, and the importance of regulating multiple employment was underscored.
In addition, permanent contracts were defended as a fundamental guarantee for workers. The debate reflected the educators' commitment to improving labor legislation that strengthens the role of the union and promotes labor justice.
