Camagüey, Sep 20 - In this province, two photovoltaic parks with a total capacity of 21.8 megawatts are in the process of investment and construction. One of them, known as La Cívica and located north of the Agramontina capital, shows significant progress, as confirmed by engineer Rolando González, director of investments of the local Electric Company.
González reported that at La Cívica, the bases for the primary, secondary, and seven technological containers, both primary and secondary, have already been completed, as well as the installation of two inverters.
These inverters are key components that receive the direct current generated by the solar panels and convert it into alternating current, in addition to raising its voltage to 34.5 kilovolts for integration into the electrical grid.
Regarding civil works, the perimeter fence of the park is 80 percent complete, and the installation of the platforms for the 16,380 solar panels that will make up the park has already begun.
On the other hand, in the municipality of Florida, the Ortigal park is being developed, which is in the initial construction stage. Currently, work is underway on temporary facilities for the builders and on the open storage area, which is 90 percent complete.
Moreover, González announced that construction of a photovoltaic park in Guáimaro, on the outskirts of that locality along the Oriente road, will begin soon. This new project will have a capacity of 5 megawatts and will be smaller compared to the first one.
The first park completed this year, with a capacity of 21.8 megawatts, was executed in Luaces, Vertientes, and is already operational, generating solar energy. This facility produces more electricity in the hours following noon when solar radiation is most intense.
This program is part of the country's efforts to stabilize and strengthen its electricity generation capacity through the use of clean and renewable energy sources. (Enrique Atiénzar Rivero/Collaborator of Radio Cadena Agramonte) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
