Havana, September 20 – Cuba’s Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, predicted another resounding victory for his country against the illegal and genocidal U.S. blockade during the upcoming debates at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA-80).
Rodríguez Parrilla announced on Wednesday in a press conference, where he presented an updated report on the damages caused to the largest of the Antilles by Washington’s siege, that Cuba will present a new draft Resolution rejecting this ongoing war intensified by the current administration of President Donald Trump.
The Foreign Minister said the draft resolution will be debated on October 28 and 29 at the UN headquarters in New York, and assured it will once again receive the overwhelming support of the international community, as has happened every year since 1992 for 34 consecutive occasions.
He added that despite pressure from the U.S. on many countries and a complex global scenario, the anti-blockade document will be overwhelmingly approved because the world is well aware of the arbitrary and unjustifiable conduct of the White House.
During the press conference, the Foreign Minister provided detailed information on the damages caused by Washington’s siege to the Caribbean island from March 2024 to February 2025, which amounted to $7.556 billion.
He highlighted that this represents a 49% increase in blockade damages compared to the previous period, with cumulative damages now totaling $170.677 billion at current prices.
Rodríguez Parrilla stressed that no sector of Cuban life escapes the harmful effects of the six-decade-long war imposed by Washington.
He emphasized that the increasingly belligerent policy’s consequences are dramatically reflected in the shortages faced by the population of this oldest Caribbean archipelago.
International analysts agree that Cuba would be a prosperous nation without the U.S. siege and could further help other peoples due to its proven altruism and solidarity.
Experts also concur that successive U.S. administrations have long been aware of all that Cuba could do for its people and the world, which is why they insist on trying to strangle it, overthrow its revolution, and erase its example.
“Lift the blockade and you will see,” the minister concluded. (Text and photo: Trabajadores Digital)
