The National Defense Council met and approved work plans


Havana, October 16 – The National Defense Council (CDN, for its acronym in Spanish) met this Wednesday at the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces to approve the decisions and plans of its working and security organs, with the presence of state and government leaders, the newspaper Granma reported.

The meeting was chaired by Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Revolution, and Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic.

Members of the CDN, as well as high-ranking chiefs and officers of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior, participated.

During the meeting, the support plans and decisions of the working organs were evaluated, with the purpose of strengthening the country's preparation to confront exceptional situations.

The CDN constitutes the State's highest body for defense and security matters, responsible for organizing and directing the nation's preparation in peacetime and for assuming the leadership of the country during states of emergency.

The Council's strategy is based on the principle of the War of All the People, which involves the organized participation of society in defense.

Among its functions are the direction of internal order, State security, civil defense, and the coordination of necessary economic and social activities in exceptional situations.

The body issues directives and provisions that are mandatory for institutions, entities, and citizens, in order to guarantee the continuity of the political system and national sovereignty. (ACN) (Photo: PL)
