Havana, October 22 – Honduran Education Minister Daniel Sponda described the contribution of a team of 135 professionals from Cuba as titanic, helping Honduras declare itself free of illiteracy.
Secretary of State Daniel Sponda considered the Cuban methodology, "Yes, I Can," to be the most successful in the world and recognized as such by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization.
Sponda emphasized that, in less than three years, Cuban literacy teachers trained approximately 50,000 Honduran volunteer facilitators, with whom the illiteracy rate was reduced to below 4%.
With the collaboration of Cuban professionals, Honduras was proclaimed a territory free of illiteracy on September 9, a challenge set by the government of President Xiomara Castro. (Radio Reloj) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
