
Camagüey, October 28. - Amid the danger posed by the powerful Hurricane Melissa, the Camagüey municipality continues preparing to avoid loss of human lives.
In that regard, in the Camagüey capital, more than 15,700 people have been protected so far, both in homes of relatives and neighbors and in designated centers.
Alberto García Rivero, president of the Population Protection Commission, stated that most of them are from the Previsora, Jayamá, Vigía-Florat, and La Esperanza defense zones.
He also specified that efforts are underway to raise risk perception and transfer to safe places all those residing in vulnerable homes and flood-prone areas.
It should be noted that the Camagüey municipality has 13 centers prepared with the necessary personnel and resources to receive around 9,000 Camagüey natives. (Text and photo: Rodolfo Medina Hechavarría/Radio Camagüey)
