Holguín, October 30. - Miguel Díaz-Canel, president of the National Defense Council (CDN, for its acronym in Spanish), is today verifying the level of impacts on socioeconomic sectors left in the wake of Hurricane Melissa's passage through Holguín province, the territory where the meteorological phenomenon exited.
During the day, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic is checking the status of infrastructure at the photovoltaic solar parks (PSFV, for its acronym in Spanish), evacuation centers, and disaster-time healthcare attention during visits to some of these sites.
Visiting the Providencia PSFV, located near the Frank País International Airport in the capital municipality, Díaz-Canel acknowledged the efforts of workers in the sector to safeguard the Felton Thermal Power Plant and the solar facilities, which show no significant damage—vital for bolstering the National Electric System.
Accompanying the CDN President are Roberto Morales Ojeda, an CDN member; Vicente de la O Levy, Minister of Energy and Mines; Joel Queipo Ruiz, president of the Provincial Defense Council (CDP, for its acronym in Spanish); and Manuel Francisco Hernández Aguilera, its vice president. (Source: ACN)
