Recovery phase declared for the provinces of Granma and Santiago de Cuba

Havana, October 31 - INFORMATION NOTE NO. 7 FROM THE NATIONAL GENERAL STAFF OF CIVIL DEFENSE ON HURRICANE MELISSA

Considering that the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Granma are in conditions suitable to begin the recovery phase activities, it was decided to establish the Recovery Phase for both territories starting at 11:00 AM today.

In the case of the Granma province, the Municipalities of Rio Cauto and Cauto Cristo will remain in the Cyclone Alarm Phase, as they continue to face a complex hydrological situation and ongoing protection efforts for the population.

Recognition is given to the work carried out by the management bodies, the media, and the population for their discipline and solidarity demonstrated in complying with the measures implemented during the preparations and response to this event.
