Camagüey, The Bulls, Artemisa Hunters, standings, National Baseball Series

First victory over Artemisa Hunters

Camagüey, Dec. 3 - A strong finish by veteran Rodolfo Soris ensured The Bulls started the day with an 8-6 victory over the Artemisa Hunters, a result that did not improve Camagüey's position in standings, in the National Baseball Series.

In a rare move, the veteran left-hander from Esmeraldas came in to quell an apparent offensive surge by the opposing team, who took advantage of Juan Raúl Lugo's wildness (replacing Jean Carlos Parraguez) in the ninth inning to put runners on base.

And although the visitors managed to discount one, the Camagüey reliever managed to get the entry and score his first point for game saved in the contest and, by the way, preserve the victory to the right-hander Yonimiller Mendoza, who achieved his third victory after two defeats in the championship.

The winners were aided by home runs from Leonel Moas (his eighth) and Lisván Fajardo (2nd). Yosbel Pérez had a fantastic day, hitting three hits in four at-bats.

Despite being virtually out of contention for the next stage, having an offensive average of 326 is still a good sign, a statistic that, along with defense, has been a calling card in the competition, given the disappointing performance of the pitching.

Currently, they have a record of 25 wins and 36 losses, placing them in a very modest 14th position with only 14 games remaining in the tournament.

Today it will be played again in the park Cándido González Morales, of this city. (Text: Gilberto Rodríguez Rivero/Colaborador Radio Cadena Agramonte) (Photo: Archive)
