The Lumberjacks aim to seize the top of the National Baseball Series

Havana, November 5.- The Las Tunas Lumberjacks will seek today to once again tame the Matanzas Crocodiles in their home forest, the Julio Antonio Mella Stadium, to ascend to the throne of the 64th National Series.

The atmosphere at the "Mella" promises pure firepower after yesterday's decisive victory, when the Tunas team knocked out the Crocodiles 15-3 and snatched the title, making the Holguín Cubs the new league leaders based on winning percentage.

It was a hitting party: home runs from Yordanis Alarcón and two from Henry Quintero unleashed the madness, while starter Anier Pérez earned his second win and the Lumberjacks roared in sync with the stands.

Interestingly, Holguín climbed to the top without throwing a single pitch, benefiting from Matanzas' collapse. Today they return to the field, tasked with defending their leadership against the Artemisa Hunters in a matchup promising high tension.

The Industriales are also lurking, having positioned themselves just half a game behind the lead after defeating the Camagüey Bulls 3-1 at the Latinoamericano Stadium.

With the bats of Ángel Alfredo Hechavarría and Ariel Sánchez, who each hit home runs yesterday, and the strong arm of Remberto Barreto, the Industriales are keeping their hopes of leading the standings alive and will try to repeat their performance against Camagüey today, pushed by their home crowd.

Meanwhile, at the 5 de Septiembre stadium, the Cienfuegos Elephants and Guantánamo Indians will resume the game suspended yesterday due to darkness, tied at seven runs in the ninth inning, before playing the game scheduled for today.

In other matchups, the Isla de la Juventud Pirates will try to maintain their course after their 4-1, ten-inning victory over the Ciego de Ávila Tigers, while the Granma-Mayabeque and Santiago de Cuba-Sancti Spíritus games will mark the return of the teams hardest hit by the recent hurricane.
