
Havana, Dec. 9 - Timor-Leste's Minister of Health, Élia dos Reis Amaral, highlighted the quality of Cuban healthcare professionals during the celebration of Latin American Medicine Day in Dili, it was reported today.
According to a notification accessed by Prensa Latina, Reis Amaral was the main speaker at the meeting held at the Cuban embassy in that country with members of the Cuban medical brigade, on the occasion of the date.
During the event, the Minister sent a message of gratitude to her counterpart, Cuban Minister José Ángel Portal, while also acknowledging the work carried out by the Cuban medical brigade as a result of the meeting between Commanders-in-Chief Fidel Castro and Xanana Gusmao in Kuala Lumpur.
She also took the opportunity to bid farewell to the current brigade leader, Sergio Rabell, and welcome Dr. Andrés Villar, according to the text.
Furthermore, it adds, Ambassador Alina Aldama acknowledged the important support of the Minister of Health so that the Cuban medical brigade to provide its services to the Timorese people.
At the same time, it mentioned the 20th anniversary of the Higher School of Medicine; at the end of the mission of the sports teachers, who work together with the doctors; and the conclusion of the Salsa Workshop with friends from Cuba, it notes.
According to the information, the Sahrawi and Angolan ambassadors, directors of the national university and the Ministry of Health, as well as friends and students of the School of Medicine, also participated in the meeting. (Text and photo: PL)
