Electrical reconnection in eastern Cuba concluded

Havana, Dec 13.- After a month of reconstruction work, national electrical sector workers concluded the reconnection in eastern Cuba by energizing the last of the six high-voltage towers linking the municipalities of Cueto and Bayamo, the Granma Electrical Company reported on its social media.

The steel lattice structures, which support the 220-kilowatt transmission cabling and were knocked down by Hurricane Melissa's winds, are now ready to resume their functions in the energy system.

More than 100 specialists and workers from the Electrical Industry Construction Company participated in the project, recognized by Granma authorities as a labor feat due to the discipline and effort displayed.

In the period following the cyclone, energy sector brigades carried out significant actions to ensure that the eastern part of the country now has the necessary operational infrastructure for its electrical service.

The Electrical Union specified that the raising and energizing of the last 220-kilowatt tower affected by Hurricane Melissa represented a technical triumph that crowned weeks of work under adverse conditions.

Brigades from several provinces made their way through destroyed roads and flooded areas to transport equipment and rebuild, one by one, the six high-voltage towers that had collapsed.

The company emphasized that the coordinated effort allowed for the restoration of electrical transmission in the eastern region, with the support of the population and local authorities. (ACN) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
