United States strikes Islamic State strongholds in Syria with force

Moscow, Dec 20. - U.S. President Donald Trump announced an offensive against positions of the terrorist group Islamic State in Syria, in retaliation for the killing of U.S. military personnel in that country.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, the president stated that, following the horrific deaths of brave American patriots, Washington is carrying out a very serious retaliation against those responsible.

"We are striking with great force the strongholds of the Islamic State in Syria, a place soaked in blood that has many problems but holds a bright future if the Islamic State is eradicated," wrote the White House occupant. He also added that the Syrian government, led by a man working very hard to restore Syria's greatness, fully supports these actions.

The U.S. president also issued a warning to armed Islamist groups. "All terrorists who are evil enough to attack Americans are hereby warned: they will be hit harder than ever if, in any way, they attack or threaten the United States."

According to Fox News, U.S. military forces struck more than 70 targets suspected of belonging to the Islamic State in several locations in the ancient city of Palmyra, in central Syria.

Previously, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth clarified that this is not the start of a war but simply a declaration of vengeance. It is the Trump Administration's announced response after two U.S. military personnel and a civilian were killed when an Islamic State sniper ambushed them in Syria. (Text and photo: RT)
