Ramallah, Jan 16.- During the first phase of the truce in Gaza, which began on October 10 of last year, the Israeli Army killed 449 Palestinians and wounded 1,246 more in the territory, an official source denounced today.
The Government Press Office in Gaza detailed in a statement that Israeli troops illegally arrested half a hundred citizens from then until January 15.
The data was published following the announcement about the start of the second phase, which includes the creation of a committee of Palestinian technocrats, tasked with governing the enclave.
According to the Office, Israeli military forces committed 1,244 violations during those 95 days.
The occupation continued to commit serious and systematic breaches of the agreement, which constitutes a clear violation of international humanitarian law and a deliberate undermining of the essence of the ceasefire, it stressed.
It specified that such violations included 402 incidents of direct shootings against civilians, 66 incursions by military vehicles into residential areas, and 581 attacks and bombardments.
It explained that during this period only 24,611 trucks loaded with aid entered Gaza, a mere 43% of the 57,000 that were supposed to enter as part of the commitment reached.
According to the agreement to stop the war, 600 vehicles were supposed to enter the territory daily, but the average only reached 269, it noted.
The organization stated that this situation caused a severe shortage of food, medicine, drinking water, and fuel, which, in turn, deepened the humanitarian crisis.
"Even the food that the occupation (Israel) allows to enter is mostly low-nutritional-value food" as part of a "deliberate policy of engineering famine and thirst," it denounced. (Source: Prensa Latina)
