Young Artists and Writers call for a Journey for Literature and Life

Havana, Feb 11 - The Hermanos Saíz Association and the cultural magazine El CaimánBarbudo have called for a Journey for Literature and Life, between February 12 and 22, the dates on which the Havana International Book Fair was scheduled; which was postponed due to the extraordinary situation the country is experiencing, caused by the genocidal blockade imposed by the United States government on the Island.

"We invite writers, promoters, editors, friends, lovers of letters, and everyone who wishes to join in sharing poetry, narrative works or fragments, book reviews..., and to share their favorite texts or authors on social media," was the call made on social networks this Tuesday.

Likewise, they called for reading or giving literary works to family members, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and other people encountered on the street, in a park, or any other place...

"Let it be an international call. Hopefully young people, adolescents, children, and adults from other countries will join in. Let it be a way to build bridges and learn about more works, writers, and also readers," the text states.

"Literature is also a symbol of sensitivity, knowledge, humanism, and the capacity to create. 'Books and not bombs' is what the world deserves, peace and not threats on a planet that should be increasingly interconnected through love, respect, and passion for reading and art, with its beauties and diversities," they added.

At the Cuba Pavilion, the national headquarters of the AHS, books or poems will be given away during these days, "with the certainty that literature and creation in general also save lives." (Text and Photo: Granma)
