
Havana, Feb 12.- The Council of State conducted a detailed evaluation of the Government Program to correct distortions and re- boost the economy, during an ordinary session led by Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of that body, with the attendance of Miguel Díaz-CanelBermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, and Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister, reports the newspaper Granma.
Marrero Cruz reported on the preliminary summary of the popular consultation, in which approximately 76,172 meetings were held and 140,348 proposals were made.
He noted that the final update proposal will be consulted again with the Council of State, the Council of Ministers, governors, the economic commissions of the Party's Central Committee and the National Assembly of People's Power, prior to its publication.
The session also delved into the implementation of the agreements adopted by the National Assembly of People's Power, regarding the Economic Plan and the State Budget.
The Prime Minister added that since the previous session, work has been carried out on the approval of the Government Directives to address fuel shortages.
Explaining several actions undertaken in this regard, he highlighted that the objective is to guarantee the country's vitality, without renouncing development, minimizing the impact of disruptions on the population, and promoting the use of endogenous resources, diversifying the means to generate foreign currency income.
During the debate, Díaz-Canel underscored the importance of strengthening community work, popular participation and control in neighborhoods, promoting social programs, and seeking solutions with unity and collective contribution.
Subsequently, the members of the Council of State evaluated the performance of the National Assembly's permanent working commissions and the results of the Citizen Services activity in its Auxiliary Offices. (ACN) (Photo: Granma Digital)
