Havana, Feb 25.- The Austria-Cuba Friendship Association (ÖKG) made a donation of ten thousand euros destined for the MediCuba-Europe project, which will contribute to the installation of photovoltaic panels at the Cardiology Center of the William Soler Pediatric Hospital in Havana, Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported today on its official website.
The project aims to guarantee the energy stability of the Cardiology Center, a national reference institution that cares for children with congenital heart diseases and other complex cardiovascular conditions.
The installation of photovoltaic panels will help ensure the uninterrupted operation of vital equipment, operating rooms, and intensive care units, especially in the context of the tightening of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, which hinders access to fuel and spare parts.
The ÖKG has made several previous donations for similar causes, such as those made in 2025 for the acquisition of pacemakers and for the installation of photovoltaic panels at the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM, for its acronym in Spanish), a project that is nearing completion and already allows students to benefit from the energy generated.
Currently, the organization continues working on organizing new campaigns to support initiatives that benefit the Cuban people.
This gesture of solidarity adds to the numerous expressions of international support that Cuba receives against the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States government, and demonstrates the commitment of friendly organizations to the well-being of the Cuban people and the sustainability of its health institutions.
