Camagüey, Feb. 27.- Danny Aranda González, provincial director of Collective Law Firms in Camagüey, reported on the modifications in the provision of legal services due to the energy crisis facing the country.
The province maintains its thirteen collective law firms active, two of them — Local 1 on General Gómez street and Local 2 on Independencia street — have solar panels that guarantee their operation within the scheduled hours.
As part of the measures adopted by the authorities, the working day has been reduced from Monday to Thursday, from 8:30 in the morning to 2:00 in the afternoon. The same time restriction applies to courts, the public prosecutor's office, the civil registry, notaries and other institutions with which lawyers interact for processing procedures.
Although the law firms continue to serve the public during the established hours, there may be delays in carrying out procedures because they depend not only on the intervention of the lawyers, but also on other bodies.
Given this situation, Aranda González calls for patience and understanding on the part of the population, in addition to assuring that no procedure will remain incomplete.
"The lawyer represents, advises, defends, but does not make decisions in a process nor prepares the response document that a user needs; that depends on other institutions that, like us, have restrictions in the provision of services," he noted.
By order of the People's Supreme Court, the courts also work from Monday to Thursday until 2:00 in the afternoon. This implies the temporary suspension of oral trials and appearances that are not urgent, due to the need for electrical energy and fuel to mobilize judges, inmates and specialized personnel.
Aranda González assured that the legal deadlines for ongoing processes will not be lost, since business days are now considered Monday through Thursday for the duration of the contingency. We are not going to close or do without our services. As long as the country can, we will continue working, he concluded. (Camagüey Television) (Photo: Taken from Internet)
